PigPen is a group of young men who met at The Drama School at Carnegie Mellon University four years ago and started creating atmospheric theatrical fables with a unique blend of shadow puppetry, movement, live music, and clever lighting effects. Since their 2010 success, they've been busy finishing their final year at school, while performing their stories whenever schedules allow, including a special sold-out event at NYC's award-winning Barrow Street Theatre. They've been called "The future of ensemble theatre in America" by Company One in Boston, MA where they are set to make their regional theater debut this June performing "The Mountain Song". A show that was heavily workshopped, and critically acclaimed, here on the vineyard last summer as a co-production of ArtFarm Enterprises, Vineyard Arts Project, ITW, and Featherstone. This July, they return to completely rework the first show they ever performed for us on the island, "The Old Man and The Old Moon". The tale of an old man who must abandon his duties of filling up the moon every month, to cross the seas in search of his missing wife. With new music, puppets, characters, and story that’s sure to touch the hearts of adults and children alike. Visit their website! www.pigpentheatre.comOverview
