RADA will bring a company of six newly graduated BA acting students and a senior RADA Director to Vineyard Arts Project to develop new plays by a selection of US and UK playwrights.  RADA shares in Vineyard Arts Project’s belief that a creative, nurturing environment is crucial to individual growth as an artist.  Together, we remain committed to extending educational opportunities to recent college graduates and pre-professional actors. 

RADA trains world-class actors, honing their talent, skills and stamina for enduring careers in the creative arts.  Distinguished alumni include: Alan Rickman, Mark Rylance, Fiona Shaw, Sir Anthony Hopkins, Ralph Fiennes, Eve Best, Clive Owen, Adrian Lester, Ciaran Hinds, Peter Francis James, Tom Hiddleston and Sally Hawkins to name but a few.

Nona Sheppard

Nona Sheppard, playwright and director

NONA SHEPPARD studied Classics at King’s College London, specialising in Greek drama, before returning to her home town, Liverpool to work as an actor for two years at the Liverpool Playhouse. She started directing at the Nuffield Theatre Southampton, and when she was Associate Director at the Chester Gateway Theatre, she wrote her first play. Since leaving Chester, in 1982, she has been working freelance as a writer and director for many companies both in the UK and abroad, with over a hundred and fifty productions and forty commissioned plays to her credit. Her plays for young people, which have received several awards, have been seen in USA, Canada, Europe and Russia. Her most recent play Signs of a Star-Shaped Diva opened at the Theatre Royal Stratford East before touring nationally last spring. She is currently working on the book and lyrics for a musical piece based on Zola’s novel Therese Raquin.

She is an Associate Director at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art where she directs productions, is Chair of the Audition panel, runs courses in Shakespeare and is the Creative Director of RADA Enterprises.
