A letter from our Artistic Director

Vineyard Arts Project's 2011 summer season offers audiences an inside look at the creative process of today's most visionary artists.  From Broadway stars to British theatre royalty, and a rock musical to contemporary ballets, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

Our New Writers. New Plays. festival returns for the second consecutive year to bring you new work by up-and-coming playwrights Tanya Saracho, Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, Lucas Papaelias, and Deborah Smith.  Contemporary ballet company, Morphoses, returns to create their first ever full-length dance drama based on Eurpides’s The Bacchae, and our Musical Theatre Lab, under the direction of Elizabeth Parkinson and Scott Wise, returns to train aspiring musical theatre stars.  We are also delighted to welcome back The Public Theater's Emerging Writers Group and the witty, all-male PigPen Theatre Co.

A highlight of our season is London's Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA), one of the foremost drama training schools in the world and our first collaboration with an international organization. Groundbreaking choreographers Karole Armitage (Tony nominee, Hair) and Larry Keigwin also join us for the first time.

Vineyard Arts Project is committed to providing affordable access to the arts and we need your support.  Please consider becoming a Patron today!  As a patron, you will be an invaluable member of Vineyard Arts Project's family of artists and supporters and help to ensure that we continue to grow and enrich the future of the performing arts.  For more information, please see the final page of your brochure.

There are many ways to experience Vineyard Arts Project this season, from our art for art benefit on July 2nd to our number of in-studio performances and artist talks during each residency.  I look forward to seeing you at the studios!

Sincerely,

Ashley Melone
